Gorman-Redlich 257 West Union Street Athens, Ohio 45701 Fax: (740) 592-3898 PH: (740) 593-3150 To send an emergency message that the station has to originate, begin by pressing the "compose header" key on the keypad. Our order form will ask if the station is a primary entry point (PEP) and if it is not, the only selection that can be made is EAS. If the station is not a PEP we will program the microprocessors for EAS and this step will not be required to send a message. By pressing the up or down arrow the cursor can be moved and when it is adjacent to what you want in the header code, press enter and the arrowhead will appear next to your selection. Now, press exit and your next choice in the header is the menu for events. By pressing the down arrow continuously, you will go through every possible selection with the cursor. When you press enter, the arrowhead will come on next to that event. Now press exit and the counties in your listening area will appear. By pressing the arrow button, the cursor will move from county to county. By pressing enter, the arrowhead will come on and you can select a county; and if you wish to de-select a county, press enter again. After you select the counties in the message (up to 31 but not more than the number of counties in your listening area), press the exit key and the next thing on the display will be the valid time for the event in the header code. By pressing the down arrow, you can shorten the event time for your message; and by pressing the up arrow you can lengthen the event time. After arriving at the time interval you want, press the enter button, and the arrowhead will come on. Now, press the exit button, and the encoder is now ready to send the FSK header code. Before sending the composed header, you might want to edit the message you have created. If you press the "display composed header" button and operate the down arrow you can read the message your are about to send. You must press the exit button and the unit is ready to go. If you go to the console and through a momentary remote contact closure you can duplicate the "send composed header" button on the front panel keypad. Press the send composed header button and you send the FSK header and the two tone attention signal. Upon completion of the attention signal, give the audio emergency message from the console microphone. Upon completion of the emergency message send the end of message by pressing the E.O.M. button. If you forget to send the E.O.M. message, the EAS-1 will automatically send the E.O.M. after two minutes. If you want to send the composed header from the keypad when you press the send composed header button the display will ask you for the 4-digit code. We will ask on the order form what 4- digit code you would want to use. The printout of the setup information will show you what the 4-digit code is when the unit arrives. When you press the button for the last digit of the 4-digit code the FSK code and the 2 tone attention signal will be transmitted. You must give the audio message from the console microphone and then send the E.O.M.
